DISNEY AFTER HOURS BOO BASH 2021

Disney After Hours BOO BASH is an all-new Halloween Party coming to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World this Fall. This special three hour After Hours event will replace the long-running Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) for 2021 season.  While we anticipate the potential return of MNSSHP in 2022, the After Hours BOO BASH is a solid replacement and fair compromise while we continue to navigate the un-chartered (and choppy) COVID waters.

For those unfamiliar with previous Disney After Hours events, they debuted in 2016 as a very limited capacity, separate ticketed event taking place three hours after park closing, with access to select attractions — which automatically meant much shorter wait times (if any at all!) to all of your favorite rides! The event debuted in Magic Kingdom and was eventually offered in Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.  The events often sold out, but with limited tickets sold, you essentially felt like you had the entire park to yourself. Previous Disney After Hours events also included complimentary popcorn, ice cream treats and beverages. I attended an After Hours event, see my full review here!

Let’s explore what Boo Bash has to offer…

Disney has done an incredible job of bringing the magic to Guests during the pandemic, while maintaining all required health and safety measures as recommended by the CDC. These measures will remain in place during the After Hours event, and entertainment and character greetings will be offered in some modified version.

As suspected, flagship elements of MNSSHP like fireworks, parades, standard meet & greets, and stage shows are all still on temporary hiatus. There is always a small chance that any one of these components can return and be added to the highlight reel, but at this point it seems highly unlikely for 2021.

But, here’s what you can expect to see and do throughout the evening event:

  • Special cavalcades will pop up throughout the night including “Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade,” with Mickey Mouse and friends dressed up for the occasion. In the “Disney Villains Halloween Cavalcade,” villains will take to the street and celebrate their favorite time of the year. “Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade” will feature Jack Skellington, Sally and Oogie Boogie riding down the parade path to “This is Halloween,” and last, but definitely not least (we would never say that about her!), Maleficent will also make an appearance in the form of a fire-breathing dragon.
  • Some of your favorite friends will be lurking about – from the lovely Miss Carlotta at the Haunted Mansion to Goofy and Chip ‘n’ Dale in their Halloween best, with other surprise characters popping up across the park, too. You can even stop and listen to the Cadaver Dans during their special comeback (from the dead) performance.
  • Select complimentary snacks like ice cream novelties and popcorn, along with select beverages, are included in the cost of the event.
  • After the park closes to day guests, enjoy less time waiting in line for more than 20 attractions including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Haunted Mansion attraction, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain and more.
  • A variety of specialty food and drinks will be available for purchase including an Apple Ginger Dale frozen drink (frozen apple cider mixed with ginger ale and topped with whipped cream) and a Foolish Mortal Funnel Cake.)
  • Disney PhotoPass will also be available to take your magical and spooky shots throughout the night.

Guests young, old and immortal can dress in costume for the occasion and get their fill of Halloween candy. As an important reminder, costume masks are not permitted for adults; they can only be worn by children younger than 14 years old. Before you arrive, be sure to become familiar with Disney’s Costume Guidelines.

In addition, all guests are required to wear approved face masks during the event, in line with current park guidelines.

Keep this page bookmarked; it will be updated accordingly as Disney releases more information.
